Ultimate Call Of Duty Zombies Guide

Introduction
The Call of Duty Zombies mode in Call of Duty WaW, Black ops, and Black ops 2 have always been very popular game modes in the franchise. With Over a dozen maps, a ton of perks, weapons, and ways to survive the apocalypse. This is your ultimate guide to the zombie apocalypse in Call of Duty.
Gameplay
In the COD zombies mode, your main goal will be to gather up as many points as possible while buying doors, weapons, perks, and other goodies to fend off the endless horde of zombies. Your goal here is as simple as it gets. Survive. There are small goals in this mode that will help you against the relentless hordes and we will be covering them all. This guide will not be covering easter eggs. Mainly on just surviving and how to survive. We'll be going over weapons, perks, pack-a-punch, points, maps, trains, and more.
So without further ado, let's get started shall we?
The first post will be about starting off. Basically for people who really don't know too much about zombies and can't make it more then 2 or 3 rounds without the help of a buddy.

Surviving

First of all if you're gonna survive the apocalypse. You NEED to know how to play. This mode isn't something you can just pick up and play. There are many factors to this mode. But without further ado, let us begin.

No matter what map you spawn in, you'll always spawn in a small room. (With the exception of town and farm) Now you see the small room is just one room in the map. Most of the maps in this game are large and confusing. You'll start off with a petty pistol that you can't do much with, 500 points, and 2 grenades.
You rack up points by shooting, knifing, blowing up, and killing zombies. There are actually several ways of building up points but I will get to that later.
Kill off any zombie you see. In the first 2 rounds this is very easy to do by knifing the zombies. Try repairing the windows they came through. There will always be at least one door in the starting room, usually two that you can open by spending points which will take you to the next part of the map.
You'll always want to get a gun off the wall or from the mystery box (we will discuss the mystery box later) as soon as possible as your petty pistol that you spawn with becomes completely useless. A gun from the wall or mystery box will give you a much better chance of not being over ran.
Eventually your going want to get perks by spending points to increase your chance of survival onto later rounds but we will discuss this in another post.

Here's a checklist of what your going to want to do when you start a game.

  • Spend the first two rounds in the starting room gathering points by killing zombies and repairing windows.
  • Buy a weapon off the wall and move on from the starting room as soon as possible after that.
  • Turn on the power which will allow you to buy perks.
  • Buy perks to help you survive and continue opening up doors.
  • Watch your back. I will show you how to do this very effectively in a later post.
I will be going into much more detail on the next post on how to survive.
Stay tuned.

Surviving past round 5

If you wanna survive in Zombies past round 5, 10, 20, maybe 40 even? You better listen, I can survive on any zombies map and i can do it well.
By the time you get to round 5. You should always have a weapon other then your pistol. Buy a weapon off the wall or from the mystery box!! You will not survive if you do not! It doesn't matter what it is. Now the easy way to do this is to look for any weapon off the wall. These weapons will range anywhere from 500 points to 1500. Try to get an automatic weapon. They cost usually around 1000-1200 but they are well worth your points.
Or if you can find it you can hit the mystery box if you can find it. It's literally a box that has two glowing question marks on it. You might need to open a door or two or even three to get to it. (keep in mind the box costs 950 points) Gambling for a random gun from the box is a gamble because you could get a very bad weapon or you could get a very good one hence the name "Mystery Box".
After you have a good weapon, save up for juggernog. This perk will increase your max health by 250%.
Without it, your a dead man as zombies can get you down in 2 hits. But with it, it will take 5 hits for the zombies can get you down. And yes, your health does regenerate.
On the next post we will be discussing how to run trains, which is running around the zombies and letting them follow you instead of standing still and getting over ran when more then 20 zombies are all over the place. This is very important if you want to go past round 15 or 20 on any map.

Running A Train

In Zombies, running a train is very important in order to survive.
The basic definition of it is "running past zombies and leading them that way they are in a organized crowd behind you. When you don't run a train and you just run around like a monkey or stay in once place. The zombies will be everywhere and you will get over ran extremely easily. Especially in the later rounds where zombies have much more health.
Here's a video tutorial on how to run a successful train in Call of Duty Zombies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHSrkVq71K0

The video above is a detailed video on how to run a rape train perfectly.
This is a quick checklist on how to do it.

  • Buy a good weapon
  • Buy Juggernog to increase health
  • Buy Quick Revive so you can revive yourself if you do go down
  • Now find a nice open spot where you can do this
  • Gather the zombies, run past them, and try to run in a large circle
  • The zombies will be running behind you now
  • When all the zombies stop spawning, kill them
  • For every zombie killed, another will spawn so watch out.
Next post will be on all of the perks in COD Zombies.

Weapons and Pack-a-Punch

Even if you have 4 perks in zombies, you still need a good weapon that you really like. Try to get a points gun earlier in the game. By this, I mean an automatic weapon like a sub-machine gun with a high fire rate. This will get you points fast. But these weapons don't usually last long. Your long-term gun, or the gun you will stick with for the rest of the game should be something you really like and something with high damage that will keep killing zombies past round 20s and 30s and even 40s. I would reccomend a Galil as it has high damage and is an automatic. And maybe for your secondary gun, another nice gun like the MTAR. For my secondary weapon I would suggest a Ray Gun, or another wonder weapon.
A wonder weapon is a beyond average gun that kills hordes of zombies very effectively. Almost every map has their own unique wonder weapon out of the mystery box.

Pack-a-Punch: Pack a punching is when you take a weapon and insert it into a machine called the pack-a-punch machine for 5000 points. Upgrading your weapon like this increases, fire rate, damage, ammo capacity, and clip capacity. It also gives your weapon a unique texture and renames it.

Don't spend all your points pack a punching unless your an expert as you could go down and have no points when you come back up to rebuy all of your perks.

On the next post, I will be discussing on how to wisely build up and spend your points.

Point System and Power-Ups

Building and spending points is the main building block in zombies. You need points to get any perks, weapons, to open doors, to upgrade weapons, etc. This is a small list on how many points you get for certain hits and lethal hits on zombies.

Hit: 10 points
Hit Lethal: 50 Points
Hit Neck Lethal: 70 Points
Hit Head Lethal: 100 Points
Knife Hit Lethal: 130 Points

In the beginning of the game, you should be utilizing lethal knife hits for maximum points. Even better though shoot the zombies first with your petty pistol, then knife them for some serious points. This way you can get a decent weapon and juggernog as soon as possible. Always utilize headshots as they will get more points and save ammo, and saving ammo is very important.

Power Ups: Power ups are little glowing symbols that appear when you kill random zombies. You can pick them up and they will go into effect.

Insta-KillInsta-Kill: You can kill any zombie with a knife hit or a single bullet or a grenade for 30 seconds. Most useful in late rounds.

Double PointsDouble-Points: Lets you get double the points for hitting and killing zombies and repairing windows. Lasts for 30 seconds and is most useful in early rounds.

Max AmmoMax Ammo: Gives you Maximum Ammo on all weapons. This power up is extremely useful no matter what round.

Nuke!
Nuke: Kills all zombies on the map. Most useful in later rounds.
Gives player 400 points, 800 points on double points.

Carpenter
Carpenter: Repairs all barriers and windows. Gives 200 points, 400 points on double points.

Fire Sale

Fire Sale: Makes the mystery box costs 10 points for 20 seconds and spawns the mystery box in every spawn location on the map.

There are quite some more power ups but most of them are exclusives in maps and are not on most maps. But the ones listed are your primary power ups and are the most important in the game.
Next post will be about electric traps.

Traps

Traps are featured in plenty of maps in Call of Duty WaW and Black Ops 1.
Traps usually sell for 1000 points and will kill any zombies that fall into it. You can lead your train right into a trap, then activate, and watch all of your zombies die. There are traps on at least half of the maps on Black Ops 1 and 3 of the maps on WaW. There are also traps on Black Ops 2. I would recommend waiting to use these though until later rounds as they suck points away and when the zombies get very hard to kill.
When using traps to get to a high round...

  • Gather up your zombies in a train like I taught you.
  • Lead them over to the trap.
  • Activate and watch them die.
  • Shoot the zombies that spawn back in your train to get your points back.
  • Rinse and repeat.
Next post will be about boss zombies and boss rounds.

Boss Zombies

Boss Zombies are zombies that appear about every 5 rounds or special zombies that cause havoc for you.
In Black Ops 1, it's usually dogs, or monkeys.
In Black Ops 2, they featured some big tough zombies that you have to kill and can get you killed easily.
You have to kill these guys fast or they can be a huge problem. Use your most powerful weapons and do not get caught. They can get in your way and cause your entire horde to circle you and get you down.
Try to have several people kill off the boss zombie but remember to stay calm when trying to kill these guys.
Like I said, they're tougher and typically run faster so make sure you always have an eye on them.

The Zombies Themselves

I've taught you everything you need to know to survive the apocalypse. Now let's go through fun facts, stats, and some stuff that is very helpful. This post I'll be talking about the actual zombies themselves.

As you know, zombies are deceased humans that are reanimated. The zombies in this game are reanimated by Element 115 and are the primary antagonists of the game mode.
Two German scientists used this element to create the zombies and to try to control them to give Germany a huge advantage in the war. This plan backfired obviously though as the zombies infect the world. Element 115 was also used to create some of the wonder weapons in the game such as the Ray Gun, and the WunderWaffe.

The zombies always start the game walking very slowly but as the rounds progress they will get faster and faster until they are sprinting. Zombies generally attack the closest player. But you can use a Monkey Bomb or an upgraded crossbow will distract the zombies temporarily.

Health: The health of zombies increases with eery round. Zombies start with 150 health on Round 1, and can be killed easily, but they gain 100 health every round until round 9. Upon reaching round 10, their health is given a 1.1 multiplier every round. FOr example, a zombie has 550 health on round 5, 1045 health on round 10, 2710 health on round 20, 47295 on round 50, and over 5.5 million on round 100. (go for head shots)

Permanent Perks

Permanent perks are only in Black Ops 2. They're perks that you earn in the game for example, in Tranzit, you can get Juggernog Pro. Which basically your health will be increased by 100% without buying Juggernog. And buying Juggernog will still get you more health.
There are numerous Permanent Perks. Another is Permanent Quick Revive where you can revive someone very fast without having to buy quick revive but buying quick revive let's you revive somebody even faster.
My favorite Permanent Perk is Permanent TombStone, this is only on Tranzit and Buried but when you go down, and you come back up you have all of your perks except for one. So if you have 4 perks and you go down, you'll only lose one perk which is the last one you got unless it's on solo. In this case you'll lose quick revive every time.
Note that these permanent perks can be lost easily. Some of them are not even worth getting because their so much harder to get and so easy to lose. Below is a link to all of the permanent perks and how to get and lose them.

Ranking System of Black Ops 2 Zombies

This is how the ranking system works in the Call of Duty zombies mode of Black Ops 2. First of all, there are 5 emblems that can be earned. I'll explain how it works. And then I'll explain how useless it is.

The first rank in Zombies for Black Ops 2 is a single bone with a wooden shield behind it. This is obtained immediately when playing Zombies and basically just shows you are starting the game and have only played a couple games as even the poorest players rank past this one.

The second rank is two bones with a wooden shield with iron outlining to make the second emblem and looks perhaps more  intimidating but is nothing special. Considered less then average skill level.

The third rank is the most common, it is the skull. This rank makes you look average.

The fourth rank is the skull and knife with an iron shield. In order to obtain this, you need to be somewhat good at zombies and can take some time.

The fifth and final rank is the skull and shotgun rank with a sleek shield in the background. You're supposed to be very good in order to obtain this rank.

How the zombies ranking system works and what's wrong with it.

I explained all of the ranks in Black Ops 2 Zombies. I did not explain how to get them though and this is the first part of this post.

  • Like I said, the first rank is earned by default just for starting off the game.
  • The second rank is earned usually after a few games of zombies.
  • The third rank is earned by having at least a 30 kill to down ratio in zombies.
  • The fourth rank is earned by having at least a 60 kill to down ratio in zombies.
  • The final rank is earned by having usually around a 100 kill to down ratio in zombies.

Now how to get the ranks is an educated estimate but is not exact. You would need to play around with it.
But like I said, there are several things wrong with the ranking system. First of all, let's say you start off as a bad player and you have a low rank, now let's say you get much better later on, chances are your rank will not go up.
That's right, the ranking system is not based on how you did your last 5 games. It is based on everything averaged out. For example, let's say you take 10 tests and the first 5 tests you score a 20%. But now the last 5 tests you score 90% on all of them. Even though the improvement is drastic, your average is 55% and that is bad. So basically no matter how hard you work on those last tests your basically going to fail. That's how the ranking system works.

The last thing wrong with it is that there are a lot of good players that just have a skull. A lot of these players are good enough to have the last rank. Then there are those who are really not good who do have the last rank because these players basically sat in a corner and just shot every zombie that came close and never went down and they had a high kill to down ratio and then when they go out to run trains they are terrible at it.
I've played with great people who just have a skull for an emblem and then some terrible people that should be good because they carry the max rank. Just have fun with the game and don't care about some silly rank because there are a lot of people with just a skull that could destroy those with max ranks.
